How plumber matching works, and how we get paid

Short answer

When you ask for help, Strive LeadGen LLC connects you with one independent licensed plumbing contractor in your area. We tell you that contractor's name before we share your details. The contractor pays us for the introduction, and we only refer to contractors who pay us. We are not a plumbing company, and you are never obligated to hire anyone.

The short version

  • We are not a plumbing company. Strive LeadGen LLC does not install, repair or replace water heaters and does not perform plumbing work.
  • We connect you with one contractor. When you ask for help, we introduce you to one independent, licensed plumbing contractor that serves your area.
  • We name them first. We tell you who the contractor is before we share your name, phone number or any other details with them.
  • We are paid. We only refer homeowners to contractors who pay Strive LeadGen LLC for the introduction. That is how this free library is funded. We share your details with the contractor only if you say yes after hearing their name.
  • You decide. You are never obligated to hire the contractor, and you can ask us not to share your details.

How it works, step by step

  1. You ask. You use a request form on the site and describe the problem and your location.
  2. We find a contractor. We look for an independent licensed plumbing contractor that serves your area and handles your type of job.
  3. We tell you who it is. Before anything is shared, we tell you the contractor's name.
  4. We share your details with that one contractor, only after you have seen the name.
  5. You and the contractor deal directly. Quotes, scheduling, the work itself, permits, warranties and payment are between you and the contractor.

We do not auction your request to a list of companies.

Who the contractor is

The contractor is an independent business. It is not our employee, agent or partner, and we do not supervise its work. The contractor is responsible for its own licensing, insurance, permits, workmanship and warranty.

Check the license yourself before you hire. It takes a minute:

  • Texas: the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) licenses plumbers. Check on TSBPE's website.
  • Illinois: the Illinois Department of Public Health licenses plumbers and registers plumbing contractors, and offers an online license lookup.
  • Ohio: residential contractors are regulated by local building or health departments. Ask the department that issues plumbing permits where you live.

See our Texas, Illinois and Ohio pages for details.

How payment affects what we publish

It does not. Our library pages are written to our editorial policy, and referral payments have no effect on what a page says, which repairs it calls simple, or when it tells you that you do not need a pro. No contractor can pay to change our content.

Texas homeowners

We are a referral service. We connect you with independent, licensed plumbing companies. Strive LeadGen LLC does not perform plumbing work, and no one at Strive LeadGen will offer to install, replace or repair your water heater.

Your information

We share your details only with the one contractor we have named to you, and only so it can contact you about your request. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how long we keep it.
